February 2012
News from Rode Pre-School ![]() After the Christmas break, the staff and pupils have come back to Rode Pre-School with renewed vigour. So far this term the children have been learning all about recycling, animals who live in the cold and Chinese New Year. The children have been finding
out what happens to all the plastic, tins and cardboard that we leave out to be
recycled. At circle time, each child
was asked to take a piece of junk and tell the others what it was made of and
which recycling pile it should go in.
Then, the children used all this junk to create wonderful new
things. Robert brought home three of
these fantastic creations! His best was an
underwater vehicle made out of an old milk bottle, egg boxes, bottle tops, and
sweet wrappers.
He has also been telling me about the animals who in live in the South and North Poles. He loves to hear all about the penguins, the seals and polar bears. The children have particularly enjoyed some of the stories about these animals that have been read to them at circle time.
